We’re proud to announce that we’ve received reaccreditation for Zero Waste to Landfill (ZWTL). This prestigious recognition is awarded to companies that have demonstrated a commitment to reducing their environmental impact by diverting all waste from landfills and instead finding new uses for it through recycling, composting, and other forms of reutilisation.

Environmental protection is a state of mind

Achieving ZWTL status is no easy feat, and it requires a comprehensive and ongoing effort to minimize waste and maximise resource efficiency. We continue to work hard, implementing sustainable practices throughout our operations, and this reaccreditation is a testament to our dedication to protecting the environment.

One of the key ways in which we’ve been able to achieve ZWTL is through our focus on recycling and composting. We’ve implemented a variety of programs to encourage the recycling of paper, plastic, and other materials, as well as the composting of food waste. These efforts have helped to significantly reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfills, and has also helped to conserve natural resources and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

In addition to our recycling and composting programs, we’ve also implemented a number of other sustainable practices to minimise our environmental impact. For example, we’ve invested in energy-efficient lighting and equipment, and we’ve implemented a number of water conservation measures to reduce our water usage.

Rob Slaski, Chief Operating Officer commented: "We are thrilled to have received reaccreditation for Zero Waste to Landfill. This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team in implementing sustainable practices throughout our operations. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact and preserving natural resources for future generations, and this reaccreditation is a major step in the right direction."

Improvements made year on year

In 2021, we recycled 228 tonnes of plastic card and metal, which equated to almost 70% of our total waste produced. The remaining waste was then used to produce electricity through incineration, with the ash being used to make building products. In 2022, we took another step forward, recycling 288 tonnes at a recycling rate of 80% - 72 tonnes of this waste were used as fuel to produce electricity.

Our journey continues...

Dee Set's reaccreditation for Zero Waste to Landfill is a major achievement that demonstrates our ongoing commitment to protecting the environment and preserving natural resources for future generations. It’s a great step towards the goal of sustainable future. This year, we’ll continue to work hard to further minimise our environmental impact and find new and innovative ways to reuse and recycle our waste.
